Old School EA

Yesterday we visited another EA highschool reunion, this one in a church in downtown Leiden.
These catholics sure know how to throw a party and they have very classy auditoriums, too

Since some of the performing artists considered themselves to be born again agnestics, and one even openly confessed to have been a lapsed alcoholic, we started the day with consultation of the spirits, knowing that many a VIP from the past was buried here under the dancefloor or been put on display in a glass box for the tourists.
Soon it became clear that they wouldn't mind some dancing on their graves, in fact , we kind of had the feeling they secretly joined us, cause none of us had ever seen a few hundred grown ups in their forties and older loosen up and shake their booty and jump on chairs and all that in the afternoon before...

Funnier than fiction

One moment it's a lazy sunday afternoon,
and the next minute a big shiny bluesmobile comes rolling up the curb.
Out come three gangsters who jump on the hood and start Rolling Over Beethoven

from then on we sure were in a pleasant movie

We met some old and new friends, forgot dinner, toasted to Miss Monroe 'till
well after midnight, and were then invited to an
early hours spaghetti and sunglassing party,
where we met some real friendly neighbours, who
might have been attracted by the smell of food more than by the community-singing, but that's alright ...
They sure could appreciate sunny minds, Italian home cooking and
cool eye wear

Here Comes The Sun

Finally a bit of summer and right away we see many serious sunglassers gather in their local hot spots and watering holes.
At a garden barbecue I met this real fireman who admitted he had a passion for smoke and cool eye wear

Elvises Without A Stage

Just a few victims of Leidens destructive
High Art Policies, wich only seem to help
contracters who can grab a few
extra bucks

But losing their stage also got many an Anonymous Elvis off the couch and
more ready to rock and roll than ever

and now there seems to be something of a grassroots counter MOVEMENT growing here...
If the mountain doesn't come to EA,
then EA will go to the mountain !!!
What would Rembrandt do ?
They've taken HIS canvas too....
